We made this music video to demonstrate what can be done for just $1000 with some imagination and a little know-how.

Using our b-roll, stock footage, animations and backgrounds, together with some snappy editing and a colour grade, we developed this video over a few days with our client. We were pleased with the outcome but more importantly, our client was delighted, and immediately ordered two more.

“I think it’s important to consider the budget for this and what I was hoping to achieve. Having done a lot of research and looked at various options I am quite satisfied that this is an excellent result and a far superior option to forgoing any sort of visuals. The videos have movement, colour, energy and variety.” Director G

Why are Music Videos Important?

According to Wikipedia in February 2021 every one of the all-time top 100 videos on YouTube is a music video. People like music videos. If they like the music they will look for the video and if they like the video they’ll stay listening to the music (and will probably watch and listen to the same video again and again). What more can an artist and a record label wish for?

Promotion and popularity isn’t the only reason of course. The music video satisfies a wider range of needs for the artist, the record label, and fans.

For some artists the video is an extension of their creative entity and just as important as the music – they need to be deeply involved in the project. The video provides an interpretation of the song that helps the audience connect and relate to it at a deeper level.

Image can be important. This doesn’t mean the music maker has to be in the video (as many prefer) but it does mean the visuals must be considered as part of the bigger brand experience. This has never been more relevant when you consider the age we live in and our well-documented need for stimulus.

Best of all, the cost of distribution and the potential global reach makes video one of the cheapest promotional platforms going. If you get enough views YouTube will even pay you. It’s the same as getting paid by your fans.

Is this approach for you?

We’ve watched a lot of music videos in our time. We naturally look at the creative but there is no doubt in our mind that the music comes first. We recognize that many artists will want to appear in their own videos. Narrative-based music videos are our most requested type and performance-based videos are the next. We love them too – they allow us to flex our imaginations and do what we enjoy most.

At the end of it all, you have a brand new 100% original music video.

Back Catalogues: Cover Art v Music Videos = No Contest

Most labels are keen to find ways to get their back catalogs working on YouTube, getting watched, and earning. As we said earlier, it is well known that a video will keep viewers watching longer than they otherwise would. A music video is an obvious improvement on a static piece of cover art.

Our approach, which uses a video production process, has been designed to scale up quickly without compromising quality. It lends itself to a form of mass-production and a significantly reduced cost per video. Whereas we would make a one-off video for $1000 we could make 100 of them for $500 each.

Do you have a one-off video you require or a back catalogue you want to monetize?
